Farmington Adoption Attorney

Family law is normally a place for anger, anguish, and vindictive emotions. Divorcing parties want to take every penny, parents fight over children, and even grandparents often times try and establish a custody right. However, there is one area of family law that is normally a happy occasion, and that is adoption. While there are mixed emotions often with adoption the main force behind an adoption is to help out young people, put them in a better spot then they were born into and give them a chance at success in their lives. Just because there are good motives, however, doesn’t mean that its going to be a simply or easy process.

The Utah Adoption Process

There are a wide array of adoption scenarios out there, from single moms putting their kids up for adoption, to step parents adopting their spouses kids, to the adoption of an incapacitated or disabled adult so the process for an adoption depends on the circumstances, but there are a number of common factors. One thing that must be taken care of in an adoption is the relinquishment or termination of parental rights. To establish a couple as the parents of the child their cannot be a conflict of who has rights over the child so the old rights must be taken care of before the new rights are established. In a lot of adoption scenarios the biological parent(s) are willing to give up their rights and so they are simply relinquished and the process is simple, but that is not always the case.
